Photo retouching is everywhere. Most good retouching is transparent to the viewer. When a picture is resized it should be sharpened for the target resolution. Images that have good shadow detail when viewed on a computer screen can flatten out in print. Ambient light or mismatched color profiles can alter true colors, requiring color balancing.
